"Splish Splash Puddles" - PTU Tutorial


This tutorial was written on Friday, June 29th 2012 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice. I'm using one of Gorjuss' sweet girls. You can purchase her artwork here

Scrapkit of choice. I've used an adorable kit called “Rainy Dayz” by Stef's Scrapkits which you can purchase here

Cluster Frame of choice. The one I made from Stef's kit to go with this tutorial can be collected here

Mask of choice. The one I am using is by Cat of Insatiable Dreams - “138InsatiableDreams” and you can collect it here

Font of choice

**Plugins**

Xero – Radiance (optional)


Ready? Then let's begin :)

Open up your tube
Press shift+d to duplicate
Close the original

Open a new canvas – 650 x 650 Pixels


Open up your cluster frame



Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “frame”


Image – Mirror


Arrange slightly over to the right of your tag


Highlight your “Raster 1” layer and rename “mask”

Change your foreground and background to two colours from your tube/tag. I am using #c8cfd7 and #cb8bb3

Change your background to gradient – foreground/background with these settings :



Grab your Floodfill Tool and fill your mask layer with the new gradient we just created

Adjust – Blur – Gausian Blur – Radius 8

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask From Disk

Choose “138InsatiableDreams” with these settings :





Open up “el46_RainyDayz_Stef'sScrapkits”

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “doodle1”

Image – Resize – 75%


Arrange the doodle along the bottom of your tag like so :




Layers – Duplicate and rename “doodle2”

Image – Free Rotate with these settings :




Arrange over on the left-hand side of the frame like so :




Layers – Duplicate and rename “doodle3”

Image – Mirror

Arrange this doodle over on the right-hand side of the frame like so :





Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “bg”


Grab your Freehand Selection Tool



Set it to Point to Point



Carefully select the inside of the frame like so :




Open up “pap06_RainyDayz_Stef'sScrapkits” from the kit

Copy – Paste – Into Selection

**Do Not Deselect**


Grab your tube


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “tube1”


Arrange it over the selection



Selections – Invert and hit delete



Selections – Invert


Effects – Xero – Radiance with the default settings :





Change the Blend Mode of the layer to “Luminance (Legacy)”

Lower the Opacity to around 63

**Do Not Deselect**

Open up “el08_RainyDayz_Stef'sScrapkits” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “rain”



Selections – Invert and hit delete



Selections – Select All


Image – Crop To Selection

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Highlight your “frame” layer

Open up “el13_RainyDayz_Stef'sScrapkits” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “string”

Image – Resize – 45%

Image – Mirror

Arrange over on the top left-hand corner of the frame

Add a drop shadow

Open up “el12_RainyDayz_Stef'sScrapkits” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “dots”


Image – Resize – 75%


Adjust – Add/Remove Noise


Uniform, Monochrome, Noise:19

Adjust – Sharpness – Sharpen

Arrange the dots over on the right-hand side of your tag like so :





Layers – Duplicate and rename “dots2”

Image – Mirror


Arrange over on the left-hand side of your tag like so :




Drag this layer down in your layer palette until it is below your “bg” layer

Highlight your “dots” layer again

Open up “el42_RainyDayz_Stef'sScrapkits” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “bug”


Image – Resize – 25%

Image – Mirror


Arrange the bug over on the top right-hand side of your tag like so :




Add a drop shadow

Copy – Paste your tube as a new layer and rename “main tube”

Arrange it to your liking and add a drop shadow


**If you would like to resize your tag, now is the time to do so**

Add your name and all copyrights.
Save your finished tag and you’re done!
