"Stargazing" - Tutorial (FTU Kit)


This tutorial was written on Saturday, November 1st 2012 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice – I'm using a gorgeous tube by Roman Zaric called “Saly” which you can purchase HERE

Kit - “Stargazing Freebie Sampler” by Nette's Nightowl Works which you can download HERE

Mask – Mask 30 by Cat of Insatiable Dreams which you can download HERE

Wordart – My wordart which you can download HERE

Font – Janda Hide And Seek



**Plugins**

Eyecandy – Texture Noise



Open up your tube
Shift+d to duplicate
Close the original

New image – 700 x 550 pixels

Rename layer “Raster 1” to “background”

Grab your Floodfill tool and fill this layer with white (#ffffff)

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “mask”

Change your Foreground colour to #254052 and your Background colour to #8ab9d1

Change your Background to Gradient – Foreground/Background with these settings :



Fill your “mask” layer

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask From Disk

Choose “30InsatiableDreams” with the following settings :



Open up “nnw sg frame2” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “frame”

Image – Resize – 70%

Image – Free Rotate with the following settings :



Arrange slightly off-centre and to the right-hand side of your tag like so :



Grab your Magic Wand Tool with these settings :



Select inside the frame

Selections – Modify – Expand – 4 pixels

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “inner frame”

Grab your Floodfill Tool again

Change your Foreground colour to #8ab9d1


Floodfill your selection


Selections – None

Layers – Arrange – Move Down

Effects – Plugins – Eyecandy – Texture Noise

Choose “Heavy Rain” with the default settings :



Effects – Plugins – Eyecandy – Texture Noise

This time choose “Grain” with the default settings :



Change the Blend Mode to “Overlay”

Open up “nnw sg glittery bits” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “glitter1”

Layers – Duplicate and rename “glitter2”

Image – Mirror

Arrange the second glitter so that it fills the rest of the inside of the frame like so :



Layers – Merge – Merge Down

Highlight layer “inner frame”

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Selections – Invert

Highlight layer “glitter1”

Hit delete

Selections – None


Highlight layer “frame”

Add a drop shadow

Open “nnw sg vine” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “vine”

Image – Resize – 65%

Image – Free Rotate with the same settings that were used for the frame :


Arrange the vine over on the right-hand edge of your frame like so :



Add a drop shadow of choice

Open “nnw sg star trail” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “startrail”

Arrange along the bottom edge of your tag like so :



Open “nnw sg bubble dust” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “bubbles1”

Image – Resize – 65%

Arrange the bubbles over on the right-hand side of your tag like so :



Drag this layer down in your Layer Palette so that it is below your “vine” layer

Layers – Duplicate and rename “bubbles2”

Image – Mirror

Layers – Arrange – Bring to Top

Open “nnw sg flower cluster1” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “flower cluster”

Image – Resize – 35%

Image – Free Rotate with the previous settings :



Image – Flip

Arrange the flower cluster over on the bottom-right of your tag like so :



Add a drop shadow

Open “nnw sg butterfly2” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “butterfly”

Image – Resize – 25%

Arrange your butterfly over on the top, right-hand side of your tag on the vine

Add a drop shadow

Open “nnw sg blue birdie” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “bird”

Image – Resize – 15%

Arrange your bird over on the right-hand side of your tag, towards the bottom of the vine

Add a drop shadow

Open “nnw sg brilliant star” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “star”

Image – Resize – 35%

Arrange over on the top-left of your tag, in the space beside the frame like so :



Add a drop shadow

Open “nnw sg wand” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “wand”

Image – Resize – 35%

Image – Mirror

Arrange the wand directly above the star we just placed like so :



Change the Blend Mode to “Hard Light”

Lower the Opacity to around 73

Open up my colour wordart

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “wordart”

Image – Resize – 75%

Arrange along the top of your tag, slightly over to the right-hand side (see my tag above for guidance)

Add a drop shadow

Drag this layer down in your Layer Palette so that it is below your “butterfly” layer

Highlight layer “wand” again (this should be your top layer)

Grab your tube

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “tube”


Arrange your tube over on the left-hand side of your tag

Once happy with the position

Add a drop shadow

**If you would like to resize your tag, now is the time to do so**


Add your name and all copyrights.
Save your finished tag and you’re done!
