"Edge Of Glory" - FTU Tutorial


This tutorial was written on Tuesday, May 1st 2012 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice. I'm using a fabulous tube by an artist called Gabi Spree You can purchase it over at the newly opened Artistic Reality Talent store here There is a 30% Grand Opening Sale going from today until 4th May too!

Scrapkit of choice. I'm using a great freebie add-on called “Cinema Sensation” by Gina of Gina's Gems. You can collect it over on her blog here

Template of choice. I'm using one by Dee of Dees' Sign Depot which you can collect on her blog here

Mask of choice. I'm using a freebie by Zuzzana (Mask 07) which you can collect here It is the 7th one down from the top of the page

Ready? Lets begin.....

Open up your tube
Press shift+d to duplicate
Close the original

Open up the template
Press shift+d to duplicate
Close the original


Delete the following layers :


Info, Pixel Words, White Strip, Orange Strip, Grunge and Bg

Highlight the “left orange circle” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “loc

Open up “GGS_Paper3” from the kit


Copy – Paste – Into Selection


Selections – None


Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the following settings :




Add a drop shadow


Delete the “left orange circle” layer


Highlight the “right orange circle” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “roc

Grab “GGS_Paper3” from the kit again


Copy – Paste – Into Selection



Selections – None


Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the previous settings

Add a drop shadow


Delete the “right orange circle” layer


Highlight the “blue strip” layer

Adjust – Brightness and Contrast – Brightness -255, Contrast 10

Effects – Penta.com – Jeans with the default settings :




Add a drop shadow

Highlight the “white oval” layer


Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “wo

Change your Foreground to a colour from your tube. I am using #c01b20

Grab your Floodfill tool and fill the selection with the colour

Selections – None

Adjust – Add/Remove Noise – Gaussian, Mono, 100

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the same settings as before

Add a drop shadow

Delete the “white oval” layer

Highlight the “orange oval” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “oo

Open up “GGS_Paper5” from the kit

Copy – Paste – Into Selection

Selections – None

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the same settings as before


Delete the “orange oval” layer


Highlight the “left white circle” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “lwc


Change your Background to Gradient – Foreground/Background with two complimenting colours from your tag. I am using #c01b20 and #000000 with the following settings :




Floodfill the selection with the gradient you have just made

Selections – None

Adjust – Add/Remove Noise with the same settings from before

Effects – Eye Candy - Gradient Glow with the same settings from before

Add a drop shadow

Delete the “left white circle” layer

Highlight the “right white circle” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “rwc


Floodfill using the gradient from before only uncheck the “invert” option


Selections – None

Adjust – Add/Remove noise with the previous settings

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the previous settings


Add a drop shadow


Delete the “right white circle” layer

Highlight the “right blue square” layer

Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat

Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “rbs

Open up “GGS_Paper4” from the kit


Copy – Paste – Into Selection


Selections – None

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the same settings from earlier


Add a drop shadow


Delete the “right blue square” layer

Highlight the “left blue square” layer


Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “lbs”

Grab “GBS_Paper4” from the kit again


Copy – Paste – Into Selection



Selections – None

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the same settings

Add a drop shadow


Delete the “left blue square” layer

Highlight the “left orange square” layer


Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “los

Grab your floodfill tool and fill with a colour from your tag. I am using #c01b20 again

Effects – Texture Effects – Blinds with these settings :


Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube1

Arrange over the selected area until you are happy with how it looks

Selections – Invert and hit delete

Selections – Select All

Image – Crop To Selection

Effects – Xero – Radiance with the default settings :




Highlight the “los” layer

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the previous settings

Add a drop shadow

Delete the “left orange square” layer

Highlight the “right orange square” layer


Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “ros

Again grab your Floodfill tool and fill with the colour from earlier

Effects – Textures Effects – Blinds with the same settings as before

Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “Tube2


Arrange over the selection until you are happy with how it looks



Selections – Invert and hit delete



Selections – Select All



Image - Crop To Selection


Effects – Xero – Radiance with the same settings

Highlight the “ros” layer

Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the previous settings

Add a drop shadow

Delete the “right orange square” layer

Highlight the “dotted square” layer

Adjust – Brightness and Contrast with the same settings as earlier

Open up “GGS_Ribbon Bow” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “bow

Arrange it over on the top-left of your tag

Add a drop shadow

Open up “GGS_Velvet Rope” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “rope


Arrange it in the middle of your tag near the bottom


Add a drop shadow


Copy – Paste your tube as new layer and rename “tube3


Arrange it in the middle of your tag in front of the rope


Effects – Eye Candy – Gradient Glow with the same settings as before


Add a drop shadow


Open up “GGS_Hand Fan” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Fan


Image – Resize – 45%


Image – Mirror



Arrange over on the bottom left by the post


Add a drop shadow

Open up “GGS_Purse” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “Purse

Image – Resize – 35%


Arrange over on the bottom left near the fan



Add a drop shadow


Highlight the “word art” layer

Open “GGS_Lipstick” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “lippy


Image – Resize – 15%


Arrange over on the bottom left near the purse and fan


Add a drop shadow

Open up “GGS_Sunglasses” from the kit


Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “glasses


Image – Resize – 15%

Arrange over on the bottom left in front of the lippy and purse

Add a drop shadow

Open up “GGS_Champagne Glass” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “champs

Image – Resize – 25%


Arrange over on the bottom left of the tag near the purse and glasses


Add a drop shadow

Open up “GGS_Limo” from the kit

Copy – Paste – As New Layer and rename “limo

Image – Resize – 60%

Arrange over on the bottom right of your tag


Add a drop shadow


Layers – New Raster Layer and rename “mask

Grab your Floodfill tool again and fill this layer with the gradient from before but change the settings to :




Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask From Disk


Choose “zuzzanna_Mask07” with these settings :



Layers – Arrange – Send To Bottom



**If you would like to resize your tag, now is the time to do so**

Add your name and all copyrights.
Save your finished tag and you’re done!
