"Enchanting Dreams" - PTU Tutorial

This tutorial was written on Teusday, January 31st 2012 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice. I am using one of my favourite tubes from Gorjuss.  You can find her art over here

Scrapkit of choice. I am using an adorable kit called “Enchant Me” by Jen of Sleek N Sassy Designz. You can purchase it over in her store here

Template of choice. I am using a freebie template by Dee called “Dreams”. You can collect it over on her blog here

Mask of choice. I made the one I am using which you can collect here. It's called “Stars Shining

Font of choice.

**Plugins**

Xero – Fritillary
dsb flux – Bright Noise
penta.com - Jeans


Ready? Lets begin.....

Open up the template in PSP
Press shift + d to duplicate it
Close the original
On the duplicate, delete the Copyright and Group – Raster 3 layers

Open up your tube of choice
press shift + d to duplicate it
Close the original

Highlight the "purple oval" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename “Oval
Open up “Paper2” from the kit
Copy – paste – into selection
Selections – select none
Delete the “purple oval” layer

Highlight the “Oval” layer again
Open up the “Moon” element from the kit
Press shift + d to duplicate it and close the original

Image – Mirror
Image – resize 75% with all layers checked
Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Moon
Add a small drop shadow to your newly placed moon
Position it to the left inside the oval
Change the blend mode of this layer to Overlay and lower the opacity to around 73


Highlight the "Raster 2" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename “Large Rectangle
Open up “Paper8” from the kit
Copy – paste – into selection
Selections – select none
Add a small drop shadow of choice
Delete the “Raster 2” layer

Highlight the “large purple square” layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename “Square

Choose two colours from your tag and set them as your foreground and background. I am using #13717d and #9cebb3

Change your background to gradient with the following settings :


Using your floodfill tool, fill your layer with the newly created gradient

**Do Not Deselect**

Effects – Xero – Fritillary with the following settings :


Selections – select none
Add a small drop shadow of choice
Delete the “large purple square” layer

Highlight the "small purple circle" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename “Circle
Open up “Paper7” from the kit
Copy – paste – into selection
Selections – select none
Add a small drop shadow of choice
Delete the “small purple circle” layer

Highlight the “dotted circle” layer
Add a small drop shadow

Highlight the “purple shape” layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename “Shape

Choose a colour from your tag. I am using #9cebb3
Using your floodfill tool, fill your layer with your chosen colour
Selections – select none

Effects – dsb flux – Bright Noise with the following settings :



Adjust – sharpness – sharpen
Add a small drop shadow of choice
Delete the “purple shape” layer

Highlight the “Copy (2) of Raster 2” layer
Merge – Merge Down
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename “Large Stars

Choose a darker colour from your tag. I am using #13717d
Using your floodfill tool, fill your layer with your chosen colour
Selections – select none
Add a small drop shadow of choice
Delete the “Copy of Raster 2” layer

Highlight the “black swirl” layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer and rename this “Swirl

Using your floodfill tool, fill this layer once again with the gradient you used earlier in the tag
Selections – select none

Effects – penta.com – Jeans with the default settings :


Delete the “black swirl” layer

Highlight the “black stars” layer and add a small drop shadow of choice

Highlight the “white stars” layer and repeat the small drop shadow

Highlight the “words” layer
Adjust – Brightness and Contrast – Brightness/Contrast with Brightness 255 and Contrast 0

Highlight the “Swirl” layer
Open up the “Butterfly” element from the kit
Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Butterfly
Image – resize 22% making sure all layers is unchecked
Image – rotate – free rotate with the following settings :



Adjust – sharpness – sharpen
Position on the left hand side of your tag over the top of your oval
Add a small drop shadow of choice

Still with your Butterfly layer highlighted open up the “Keychain” element from the kit
Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Keychain
Image – resize 30%
Position it over to the left with the butterfly
Layers – arrange – move down
Add a small drop shadow of choice

Highlight your “Butterfly” layer again
Open up the “Enchanted Carriage” element from the kit
Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Carriage
Image – resize 50%
Position it along the bottom of your tag and add a drop shadow of choice

Open up the “Princess” element from the kit
Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Princess
Image – resize 25%
Position her so she is in front of the carriage
Add a drop shadow of choice


Once again, highlight your “Butterfly” layer
Open up the “Cloud 2” element from the kit
Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Cloud
Position it over to the bottom left of your tag, below the Carriage

Using your Pick Tool, squash the cloud so that it looks like the Carriage and Princess are resting on it

Highlight the “Princess” layer
Layers – Merge – Merge Visible
Image – resize 90% making sure all layers is unchecked
Adjust – Sharpness – sharpen

Highlight the “bg” layer
Layers – new raster layer and rename “mask
Using your floodfill, choose a colour from your tag and fill your mask layer. I am using the gradient I created and used earlier in the tutorial

Layers – load/save mask – from disk
Load DmsMDMasks06StarsShining with the following settings :


Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and rename “Tube”
Position it to your liking on your tag and add a drop shadow of choice

**If you wish to resize your tag, now is the time to do so**

Add your name and all copyrights. Save your finished tag and you’re done!
