"Elegant Celebrate" - PTU Tutorial

This tutorial was written on Friday, December 30th 2011 by Mystery Designs. It was written in PSP X2 and assumes a good, working knowledge of the program. Any similarity to other tutorials is purely coincidental and not done intentionally. Please do not copy or claim the tutorial as your own. **Supplies Needed**

Tube of choice. As ever, I am using the stunning art of of my favourite artist Mr ©Ismael Rac. He is a PTU artist, and you can find his work over here  He also has some free tubes over at his store, all the details are over there. I am using his fabulous new 2011 New Year girl.

Scrapkit of choice. I am using this classy New Year kit by Sleek N Sassy Designz called “Elegant New Year” which you buy at her store here  Thanks Jen!

Dee's template “KanDeeNewYear4” which you can find over on her blog here  Thankyou Dee!

Font of choice. The one I used is called One Starry Night

**Plugins**
None

Ready? Lets begin.....

Open up the template in PSP
Press shift + d to duplicate it
Close the original
On the duplicate, delete the copyright and top white strip layers

Open up your tube of choice
press shift + d to duplicate it
Close the original

Highlight the "Top Black Square" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer – rename this “TBS

Open up Paper 1 from the scrapkit
Selections - select all - copy
Back to the TBS layer - paste – into selection
Selections – select none

Delete “Top Black Square” layer

Highlight the “Black Square" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer – rename this “TBS2

Bring up Paper 1 again from the scrapkit
Selections - select all - copy
Back to the TBS2 layer - paste – into selection
Selections – select none

Delete “Black Square” layer

Highlight the "Red Circle" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat

Open up Paper 15 from the scrapkit
Selections - select all - copy
Back to the Red Circle layer - paste – into selection
Selections – select none

Highlight the "bottom white strip" layer
Selections – select all – float – defloat
Layers – new raster layer – rename this “White Strip

Open up Paper 10 from the scrapkit
Selections - select all - copy
Back to the White Strip layer - paste – into selection
Selections – select none

Delete “bottom white strip” layer

Highlight the “Red Rectangle” layer

Adjust – Hue and Saturation – Colorize with the following settings :

Hue 169 Saturation 0


Repeat this step for the “Red Stars” layer also

Highlight the “White Oval” layer

Adjust – noise – add/remove noise with the following settings :

Gaussian, Mono, 45%


Highlight the “Red Rectangle” layer again

Selections – select all – float – defloat

**Do Not Deselect**

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and rename “Tube 1
Position your tube to your liking over to the right of the rectangle
Once you are happy go to selections – invert and hit delete
Selections – none

Repeat the adjust hue and saturation with the same settings as before and change the layer opacity to around 44

Layers – duplicate – rename this layer “Tube 1a

Adjust – blur – blur

Change the blend mode of this layer to Screen and lower the opacity to around 38

Highlight the “Black Star” layer

Selections – select all – float – defloat

**Do Not Deselect**

Once again copy and paste your tube as a new layer and rename “Tube 2
Position your tube over the star until you are happy, then go to selections – invert and hit delete

Selections – none and lower the opacity of this layer to around 59

Highlight the “Glasses” layer

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and rename “Tube 3
Position it on your tag and add a drop shadow of choice

Open up “Clock 6” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original
Resize the duplicate by 70%

Once resized, copy and paste as a new layer – rename “Clock” and move over to the bottom right of your tag

Add a drop shadow of choice

Drag your “Clock” layer so that it is between the “Red Stars” and “New Year Word” layers


Open up “Champagne Glass 2” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original
Resize the duplicate by 37%

Once resized, copy and paste as a new layer – rename “Glass” and move over to the bottom right of your tag again

Add a drop shadow of choice

Open up “Silver Embelishment” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original

Resize the duplicate by 57%

Copy and paste your resized element as a new layer – rename “Silver” and move to the bottom left of your tag

Drag this layer so that it is positioned below the “Glass” layer in your layers pallet

Add a drop shadow of choice

Highlight the “New Year Word” layer and add a thick drop shadow. I used the following settings :


Open up “Hat 3” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original

Resize the duplicate by 27%

Copy and paste over onto your tag as a new layer and rename “Hat
Position it over the “N” of the New Year wordart (see my tag for guidance) and add a drop shadow of choice

Open up “Balloon 2” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original

Resize the duplicate by 22%

Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Balloon 2

Image – free rotate with the following settings :


Move over to the top left of your tag and add a drop shadow of choice

Open up “Balloon” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original

Resize by 22%

Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Balloon”

Move to the middle of your tag so it is hovering over the “br” in Celebrate (see my tag for guidance) and add a drop shadow of choice

Highlight “Tube 1” layer

Open up “Sparkles” from the scrapkit
Press shift + d to duplicate
Close the original

Resize by 70%

Copy – paste – as new layer and rename “Sparkles

Add a drop shadow of choice to the following layers :

Glasses
White Strip
Celebrate White
Black Star
Circle Frame
Black Frame
TBS2
White Oval
TBS

**If you wish to resize your tag, now is the time to do so**

Add your name and all copyrights. Save your finished tag and you’re done!
